Having completed the bed portion of Oliver's room, a series of built-in desks/shelves in the server room, and a wall of built-in floor to ceiling bookshelves in the office I wanted to see if I could make something that was 1) free standing, 2) made to more specific plans. I also wanted to get some small scale practice before undertaking Oliver's desk. This piece was designed to replace the top shelf in the server room. I needed a tall space for routers, a secondary shelf form reference books, and some drawers for stuff. Getting fed up with paying the insane amount of money for 'finished' lumber from Lowe's, I bought a surface planer and found a supplier for rough-cut hardwoods. Made entirely of sassafras. |
